I want to purchase a farm in Missouri and spending 10,000 for a contractor is out of the question for me, I also dont see the point in paying so much after traveling the world and seeing so many poor families who have water wells and pumps. I know they did not bring a big drilling company .

It all depends on how deep in the ground the water is. Years ago people had hand dug wells. Today houses are being put on less desirable land. In the old days people looked for water first then built a house close by. You could possibly find a stream close by and use a jet pump system or a shallow well pump. The biggest problem with shallow wells is contamination from rainwater runoff. It washes all kind of junk into the water you want to drink and bathe in. If you do find a way to get water to your house, I would have it thoroughly tested before using it. You could try using a water sniffer to help you find water. That is a person who has a special ability to sense water. I have actually seen one work. Another thing you could do is catch rain water and store it in a cistern. Once again you have to be careful of contamination. You would still need a pump to move it through the house.
